Dear Mom

I remember our songs, what your hugs felt like.
I remember your love, tucking me in at night.
I remember your smell, smile and laughter too.
But mostly, I remember you.
I remember that day, the panic I felt.
I remember the pain, on my heart there's a welt.
I remember the day you were put into the ground.
I remember I screamed, but out came no sound.
I remember I felt abandoned, alone.
I remember thinking; I can never come home.
I remember you loved me, unconditionally too.
But mostly, I remember you.
